About the job
As Chief Officer on our AH tugboats, you play a key role on board. You ensure that all operations run smoothly, safely, and professionally. You work closely with the Captain and take charge whenever required. Whether navigating independently or organizing and leading deck operations, you know exactly what needs to be done and maintain oversight even under challenging conditions. You will be part of a close-knit and professional crew, typically with Dutch speaking officers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare voyages and keep the ECDIS system and all nautical publications up to date
- Coach, motivate, and lead the crew to ensure flawless operations
- Monitor the maintenance and functioning of all safety equipment on board
- Plan and conduct safety drills and introductions safety comes first
- Organize preventive deck maintenance and record it in Marad
- Manage stock levels of deck and consumable materials, including timely and efficient ordering
Skills
- Natural leadership and a strong team-oriented mindset
- Clear communication skills, both in Dutch and English
- Experience with the Marad maintenance management system is an advantage
- Accurate and structured way of working
- A practical, solution-oriented, and proactive attitude you see what needs to be done and take action
- Strong social skills and a cooperative attitude
What you bring
- A valid certificate of competency as a Chief Officer, 3000 GT or higher
- Valid STCW certificates, medical examination, and seaman’s book
- Proven experience on AH tugboats or similar vessels
