  • About the job

    As Chief Engineer on our ocean-going tugs, you are responsible for the optimal performance and availability of the entire engine room. You carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and manage both the technical logbook and our maintenance system (MARAD). Depending on the vessel, you will either work within a technical team or serve as the sole Chief Engineer, carrying full responsibility.
    You will be part of a professional crew, often with Dutch-speaking officers, and report directly to the Master while working closely with our shore-based Technical Department.

  • Responsibilities

    • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all propulsion and auxiliary systems
    • Carry out and record preventive maintenance in MARAD
    • Find and fix technical issues independently, even under time pressure
    • Keep accurate logbooks and technical records
    • Manage spare parts, consumables, and lubricants, and order replacements in time
    • Lead and support the technical crew (where applicable)
    • Assist with repairs and dry dockings together with the Superintendent
  • Skills

    • Strong technical knowledge
    • Good planning and organizational skills
    • Experience with MARAD is a plus
    • Accurate in reporting and administration
    • Practical, solution-focused, and resilient
  • What you bring

    • Valid Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer (all ships)
    • Valid STCW certificates, medical examination, and seaman’s book
    • Good command of Dutch and English, spoken and written
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
    • Proven experience on AH tugboats or similar vessels
